A warm start to November across New Mexico

A mild, but breezy Halloween evening across New Mexico. Temperatures cool off slightly Saturday, but warmer weather will move back in starting Sunday.

Winds picked up slightly Friday afternoon across New Mexico as the jet stream dips down over the state and clouds cleared. This has brought a few wind gusts up to 30 mph today. It has also sent in a Pacific cold front from the west, starting to cool the weather off in western New Mexico. A backdoor cold front is also creeping in to northern New Mexico and brought cooler highs in northeast parts of the state.

The couple of cold fronts moving through New Mexico will push through the rest of the state tonight, leaving high temperatures cooler statewide Saturday. Winds will be calmer though. High pressure will move over the state on Sunday, bringing a warming trend. High temperatures will climb as much as 5º to 15º above average for early November. Warmer weather will continue to move in Monday, except in northeast New Mexico where a backdoor cold front will try to sneak in.

Above average warmth will continue every day next week as quiet and dry weather sticks around. Westerly winds pick up again next Thursday, but will have little to no impact on our warmer temperatures.
