Did you break out your winter coat this morning? Albuquerque’s low temperature dropped into 30s for the first time this season at the Albuquerque International Sunport reaching 35 degrees. Today, cooler high temperatures will be around for most with sunny skies. Overnight into Thursday morning colder air may drop temperatures to the freezing point or below freezing in New Mexico and southern Colorado. The National Weather Service (NWS) will issue Freeze Warnings in the Middle Rio Grande Valley along with counties in southern New Mexico. The Middle Rio Grande Valley’s warning will last from 1-9 AM Thursday, while warnings in Grant, Dona Ana and Otero counties will be issued from 3-9 AM.
Temperatures are expected to be warmer tomorrow in Albuquerque and for most across the state. Milder high temperatures will be around late week and into the weekend. A ridge in our atmosphere, from high pressure, is expected to contribute to milder and even above average temperatures in Albuquerque and parts of New Mexico heading into early next week.
Dry weather is expected to stick around for most of the state and southern Colorado for the time being. The only rain chance is on Friday for spotty to isolated showers to develop late Friday night into Saturday morning in our northeastern counties. Otherwise, Halloween is looking to be a bit cloudier compared to the stretch of sunshine we have had for most of this week.
